For the end of 2019, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo propose to discover Coppél-i.A., The new creation by Jean-Christophe Maillot which marks his return to large format narration. The Choreographer-Director of the Company grabbed the famous play from the Romantic Repertory exploring the universe of automata to question the development of artificial intelligence in our society. Coppel-i.A by Jean-Christophe Maillot projects us into the near future where two young lovers, Frantz and Swanhilda, discover carnal love as their society always demands more progress, safety and hygiene. When eroticism bursts into their lives, an artificial being comes to shake up their certainties and question what they thought they knew about love. Is the ideal partner the being of flesh that we have always known or the abstract being that questions our belonging to the human race?
